CAPCBM offers a $1,500 scholarship every year that recognizes a student for academic achievement

Congratulations to the  2022-23
CAPRCBM-David Nigel Scholarship Recipient

Daniel Gonzalez,

CSU East Bay

The 2023 CAPRCBM Scholarship Recipient Daniel Gongalez is from California State University, East Bay.

Daniel believes that “knowledge and information are the two key components to ensuring that the parks and recreation is able to grow and adapt. Many agencies are not aware of proper resources, education, and information needed to take the leap to get to that next level. The more you educate others about gaps in the field of parks and recreation, the more change will happen. Every community has its own overlooked population or subcultures, and it is sometimes hard to see that from the inside.

“This scholarship will greatly help me pay off the final year of my program as well as support the expenses of books and other educational material needed to complete my degree. I did not pull out any loans in order to avoid the high interest rates. Therefore, I am paying the entirety of my tuition out of pocket. This does take a toll financially which is why this scholarship is extremely important to me. Even though I am close to completing my master's program, this financial assistance will make a much bigger impact that what it may seem.”
