CAPRCBM was founded in 1968.  It is governed by an eighteen member board of Directors composed of elected officers and directors, who are park and recreation commissioners or board members from city, county, or special recreation and park districts.  Directors, representing northern and southern California, are elected for staggered three year terms.

CAPRCBM is affiliated with the California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).  These relationships provide CAPRCBM members the same benefits that professional members receive.

Future of our Industry

Each year, the association awards scholarships to deserving California college and university students majoring in recreational or leisure studies programs. Please check out available scholarships by clicking here. 

Informed Decision Makers

CAPRCBM puts on educational workshops, tours and seminars to parks and recreation commissioners and board members on various topics on a self-sustaining basis.  Contact us if you would like to have a workshop in your area.  We also keep our members informed of emerging issues at the state and federal level.

CAPRCBM provides many avenues to meet and discuss park and recreation issues and opportunities with city, county, and special district commissioners, board members and professionals throughout the state.  The benefit to you, is that you become acquainted with what is happening in other communities.  Communication with peers brings knowledge about emerging issues affecting parks and recreation, and opportunities to share state-of-the-art programs and events with colleagues and explore innovative solutions.
