Sanford “Sandy” Shapiro was appointed to the Encinitas
Park and Recreation Commission in 2004. Since that time, he was
re-appointed to the Commission in 2006 and 2008. Sandy chairs the
subcommittee on Beach Quality Enhancement and the subcommittee on Beach
Cities Marathon for the Commission. He also sits on the Commission
subcommittees for Commercial Use of Beaches and Encinitas Environment Day.
The city of Encinitas appreciates Sandy’s involvement in organizing the
annual Encinitas Garden Festival. Additionally, in his “spare” time, Sandy
is a docent at San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy, County of San Diego Parks &
Recreation Department, and San Diego Botanic Garden.
Sandy is a retired Chemical Engineer and now enjoys his
time giving back to his community. |
