Deirdre has held positions as an executive for the Hospitality / Tourism
Industries for over 30 years and has been a strong advocate with regard to
the impact and influence a community’s Parks and Recreation Programs /
Facilities have on tourism and economic well being, development and
growth. Deirdre (Dei) has held positions as Director of Sales and
Marketing for the world famous L’Ermitage Hotel de Gran Classe located in
the City of Beverly Hills (now Raffles L’Ermitage) where she was a very
involved member of the Beverly Hills Visitors Convention and Tourism Board
and was on the Marketing Team placing GREAT importance on the City of
Beverly Hills’ Parks & Recreation as it pertained to the development of
Tourism and Economic Growth for the community.
Currently, Dei is President of the Alfa Corp a PR / Sales / Marketing /
Site Selection / Conference Firm. She represents Indigo Hotels,
headquartered in Manhattan Beach CA which has within their portfolio 12
boutique properties including the Hawthorn Suites Manhattan Beach and the
Best Western Avita Suites Torrance. Dei has served 3 years as a
Commissioner Parks / Recreation for the City of Manhattan Beach. Recently
reappointed she has begun her 2ND three year term in this capacity.
Dei continues to be an influential and persuasive advocate with regard to
the importance a community’s Parks / Recreation Programs and Facilities hold
with regard to attracting tourism and impacting not only the Economic Growth
for the City of Manhattan Beach but also for Hermosa Beach, El Segundo,
Redondo Beach and Torrance. She has carried this mission throughout the
South Bay as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Manhattan Beach
Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Board of Directors for the El Segundo
Chamber of Commerce, Co-Founder / Board of Directors Member for the
Manhattan Beach Lodging Association, Member of the Board of Directors for
Leadership Manhattan Beach, The Hermosa Beach Hotel Association, and
“Discover Torrance – Tourism Board”. Dei is one of the Founding Members /
Member of the Board of Directors for the Manhattan Beach Community
Foundation supporting Parks / Recreation Programs / Facilities. She has
recently been appointed as Tourism Liaison for Manhattan Beach Mayor Pro Tem
Mitch Ward who is running for Assembly Member to serve the 53rd district in
Sacramento. This district encompasses the Coastal California Communities
from Venice – Palos Verdes and Torrance. Mayor Pro Tem Ward is HIGHLY
supportive of tourism and economic development and is a good friend to Parks
/ Recreation Programs as he understands the impact it has on his communities
and constituents. She has been named to “Whose Who for Executives”.
Dei is happily married to James Alfaro – husband of 25 years and they
enjoy living in Manhattan Beach with their 2 dogs Munchkin and Macy. The
apple of Dei’s eye is Michaela – her 2 ½ year old granddaughter. |
