Benefits of Membership:

During the year all of your members will receive:

  • GUIDELINES, a quarterly publication for Commissioners and Board Members.

  • Member rates discount for the 2010 California-Pacific Southwest Conference to be held at Palm Springs in March. The membership discount makes it more reasonable to have Commissioners attend the conference.

  • Members can purchase, for $40 annually, a subscription of California Parks & Recreation magazine.  At $10 per issue, this source of information will update you on current topics affecting the profession and includes the Annual CPRS Directory and Resource Guide.

  • Resource information on issues, advocacy and ideas supporting the role and responsibilities of commissioners and board members.

  • Network and resource information at training sessions held throughout the state.

  • Members can receive exclusive consultation by CAPRCBM staff and Board members on items and topics that will improve or enhance commissioner roles, relationship and program or park development.  Consultation is available on creating dog parks, developing foundations, improving advocacy, establishing effective community relations, conducting meetings and much more.

  • Members can receive 15% discount on rates at Wyndham Resorts and Hotels as a direct benefit of membership.  Wyndham Resorts and Hotels that are part of this program include Travelodge, Howard Johnson's, Days Inn, Hawthorn Suites, Super 8, and Ramada Worldwide. To receive your hotel discount, contact Paul Romero at caprcbm@sbcglobal.net and provide your name, agency membership code number, e-mail address and date(s) for reservation.  You will contacted, by e-mail, within 24 hours and provided instructions on how to book your room and receive the 15% discount.

  • Members can receive current federal and state legislation to keep them aware of legislative changes that can affect the profession.  Through affiliates, the association advocates for local, state and federal legislation that affects the profession.

  • We also have a revised Commission/Board Member Handbook for sale to member agencies at $25.00.
