President’s Award:
Mike Shellito, City Manager, City of
Roseville
Currently the City Manager for the City of Roseville in northern
California, Mike Shellito has been a leader in municipal government and
the parks and recreation profession for nearly 30 years. In his present
role, he oversees a $440 million budget with the help of over 2,000
employees. Prior to his recent appointment, Mike served as Assistant
City Manager and Community Services Director where he was responsible
for the operations of the City’s Parks and Recreation, Libraries,
Housing and Neighborhood Services Departments. These departments have
received numerous national and statewide awards for their progressive
planning and innovative approaches to providing exceptional programs,
facilities, and services. Mike received the Distinguished Service Award
from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and the
President's Award from the California Parks and Recreation Society
(CPRS). He currently serves as United States Commissioner to the
International Federation of Parks and Recreation Administration. He is a
member of the American Academy for Parks and Recreation and Past
President of CPRS. Mike's leadership skills and his visionary
contributions to municipal government have made him a popular speaker
both nationally and internationally. Besides his broad on-the-job
experience, he further honed his skills at Harvard University John F.
Kennedy School of Government's Executive Program and the Disney
Institute. Mike is routinely invited as both a keynote speaker and
trainer at conferences and training programs throughout the United
States for a variety of professional associations, cities, counties, and
state agencies. |
